Out of the box, AptBridge does a great job of managing the connections and order content handling for inter-system communication. Sometimes, however, the true power of AptBridge can be seen in its ability to handle order data exceptions, allowing proactive exception and problem handling. Specific error types are classified according to process and type.

Types of Errors Indicators

There are three types of error indicators:

  • Cross-match errors
  • Missing information errors
  • Transmission errors

You can read more about the specifics of these using the links in the Article Index - a Table of Contents - at the top right or by clicking on the Next link below.

Component - Joomla! Extension Directory Cross-Match Errors

A Cross-Match error is the most common error type, and typically is the result of an e-commerce SKU mis-match when compared with known QuickBook item names. Typically, AptBridge compares the ordered product SKU, sent from the e-commerce system, against all all QB items to an item match. If a SKU has been mis-typed in the e-commerce system (for instance), AptBridge will generate an error code during the order creation process, and (depending on preference settings in the bridge) generate an error notification.

Other mis-match errors can result from tax-code item or tax-code rate lookup errors in AptBridge.

Error codes in this section include:
  • 10000-product not found
  • 10010-no product foreignID

For all SKU mis-matches, the easiest fix is simply to correct the SKU in the e-commerce system (change the idenfitier to match the associated QuickBooks item name). During the next scheduled AptBridge order download cycle, the ordered item will be identified, and the order created/corrected in AptBridge and the sales document automatically sent to QuickBooks.

Module - Joomla! Extension Directory Missing-Information Errors

Missing information errors result from incomplete or incorrect setup in either AptBridge or your e-commerce store. Typical error codes in this category include:

  • 10020-foreign productID not assigned
  • 10030-foreign SKU not assigned

Module - Joomla! Extension Directory Transmission/Update Errors

Transmission or QuickBooks update errors usually result from client machine, LAN, or Internet traffic delays or due to concurrent record editing in QuickBooks. Typically, these problems are handled internally within AptBridge, and the user doesn't even need to be made aware of the temporary condition.
